Andong is a city where traditional and cultural heritage coexists with evolving urban and everyday environments. This project establishes a long-term public design framework for the city, connecting Andong’s local identity with consistent and practical design standards for public spaces and facilities. The plan covers the entire city, with 2023 as the base year and 2040 as the target year.
Jaeyoung contributed to public design research, guideline development, and standard design. He participated in analyzing relevant policies, precedents, urban conditions, and existing public design elements, translating these findings into practical guidelines for public spaces, buildings, visual media, facilities, and standard designs.
A key part of Jaeyoung’s role was contributing to the development of 17 standard public facility designs for Andong, including bus shelters, streetlights, fences, and other streetscape elements. The designs aimed to establish a coherent public design language that could be consistently applied across the city while considering functionality, safety, accessibility, local identity, and maintenance.
The project resulted in a comprehensive set of deliverables—including the Public Design Promotion Plan, Public Design Guidelines, Research Archive, Drawing & Visualization Book, and 17 Standard Designs—providing both strategic direction and practical design tools for future public design projects across Andong.
