This project renewed Cheongju City’s landscape master plan in response to changing urban conditions, establishing a comprehensive framework for the conservation, management, and creation of the city’s landscape. The plan covers the entire 940 km² administrative area of Cheongju and integrates landscape research, strategic planning, landscape structure, priority management areas, and implementation strategies.
Jaeyoung Myung contributed to landscape planning and aerial visualization. He participated in analyzing Cheongju’s landscape resources and urban conditions and translating the findings into landscape strategies and spatial planning concepts. The planning process reorganized the city’s landscape structure through landscape areas, axes, nodes, and priority management areas, connecting natural, historical, cultural, waterfront, urban, and industrial landscapes within a citywide framework.
A key part of Jaeyoung Myung’s role was creating aerial-view visualizations that translated landscape planning strategies into spatial scenarios. These visualizations communicated how planning principles—such as waterfront enhancement, gateway identity, green networks, streetscape improvement, and nightscape strategies—could reshape specific urban environments and helped bridge the gap between large-scale planning concepts and tangible spatial outcomes.
Jaeyoung Myung also contributed to the development of landscape design guidelines covering landscape districts, major interfaces, streetscapes, open spaces, architecture, infrastructure, outdoor advertising, color, and nightscape. The guidelines provide a practical framework for applying the citywide landscape vision to future planning, design, review, construction, and management.
