Developed as part of Next Generation Digital Action, a global initiative led by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), this project explored how AI could help Ghanaian parents make informed decisions when choosing schools for their children.
Research with Ghanaian parents revealed key barriers to long-term educational decision-making, including competing everyday priorities, misconceptions about education, disparities in school quality, and limited access to reliable school information.
Through co-design workshops with Ghanaian parents, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), and education stakeholders, we developed three key strategies: fostering continuous parental engagement in children’s education, improving access to school information and peer knowledge, and helping families build a clear educational vision and long-term plan.
Oasis: Optimal Academic Strategies in Students is an AI-powered education consulting service that provides parents with a personalized roadmap for their child’s education.
Oasis combines a voice-based AI consulting agent, a map-based school information system, an online parent community, and personalized education roadmap reports. Through continuous interactions, the service learns about each child’s needs, strengths, aspirations, and circumstances to provide tailored school recommendations and educational guidance.
Oasis helps parents move from fragmented information and short-term decisions toward more informed, continuous, and child-centered educational planning.
By supporting better school choices and sustained parental engagement, the service has the potential to improve children’s educational outcomes and reduce school dropout, contributing to UN SDG 4: Quality Education.
