In a world filled with ready-made content, opportunities to imagine and create are becoming increasingly rare. Two-Gather proposes an open-ended form of multispecies play that encourages people to explore other forms of life and imagine new possibilities beyond familiar species.
By freely combining familiar animal forms, users can create entirely new creatures. Unexpected combinations spark curiosity and imagination, inviting questions such as: Where would this creature live? How would it behave? What other species might it live with?
Through play, species boundaries become fluid, encouraging users to imagine not only new creatures, but also their habitats, behaviors, and relationships with other living beings.
The name Two-Gather combines Two and Gather. Each animal is divided into two magnetic wooden pieces that can be separated and recombined with others.
There is no single way to play. Users can create imaginary species, match animals, invent names and characteristics, imagine habitats, or build stories through role-play. Each unexpected combination becomes a new moment of discovery.
Two-Gather’s exhibition space was designed as a “Two-Colored Jungle,” an imagined environment inhabited by mysterious plants and animals. Inspired by the toy’s principle of separation and recombination, green is divided into yellow and blue, while the exhibition and play areas are also separated into two interconnected spaces.
Two-Gather was selected as one of the 40 Young Designer Promotion projects at the Seoul Design Festival and exhibited at COEX in Seoul.
